what religion suits u best
by pippy ini just saw this questionare that asks you 20 ??
on your own thoughts or beleifs,, then it gives you a % of which ones you are most attracted to.. my highest came up church of christ, and scientist,, followed closely by new age ,, jw came in at 50 % i was hoping it would be less, but it was an interesting couple of minutes to spend my time,, my bro is church of christ, and i went once or twice and found it good, just still feel abit lost to actually going full steam ahead with a particular way, would rather just sit back and look, and take care of myself and family as best i can.... http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.html.
hope that link works for those intersted.

1. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (100%)
http://www.beliefnet.com/story/80/story_8039_1.htmlUgh.
Please, oh please, oh pleeeeeaaaase. don't join that religion. I was raised in it, and was a member until I became a dub in my early 20's. If you want to be in a cult, just go back to the dubs. OK, that's not fair, they aren't exactly a cult, just damn close, and they do not use the bible the way you might think. Dubs have Russel ... C.S. have Mary Baker Eddy, a complete fruitcake. They use her book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" to do what the wt society does with its publications. They say the book is inspired by God. That M.B.E. frantically wrote the book while locked away in her room and that it is inspired. Bible meaning is only understood from the perspective of what the S & H says, not from what the Bible itself says. The S & H is respected...the Bible is not. I've seen the religion from the inside, I know.
If you think dubs are bad because they will let their kids die because of blood, brother you ain't see nothin' yet. Let's talk torture for a minute shall we...
C.S. are a "faith healing" religion. If you get hurt as a kid, there is an ENOURMOUSLY high chance you ain't going to the emergency room. We'll just "pray" you better. I am mostly blind in one eye because of their doctrine. Instead of getting treatment for an eye condition when I was a kid, my parents just tried to "pray" it away. Ofcourse it didn't work. I paid the price.
Another time, when I was about 4 years old (this is my first memory btw), I was down in the basement with my mom. She was cleaning my Dad's workbench, and I was goofing around. I reached up as high as my little arms would go and tugged on my Dad's very large vice. That vice was always around, so from an adult perspective seeing it later I can tell yo that it weighed probably about 40Lbs. It wasn't bolted down, and came off the bench and crushed my foot. They tried to pray that away. I remember for months being forced to shove my broken foot into my tight dress shoes so we could get to the Sunday meeting, me crying and screaming from the pain of it. We just needed to have more faith and pray harder and I'd be fine. It wasn't until one of my sisters in law threatened to call childs protective services that they took me for an x-ray. By then it had started to heal, but wrong, and had to be re-broken to set right. This all is totally in line with their teachings and is the norm for them.
Many of my friends at the church had similar things happen. One kid's head was almost crushed by a closing garage door (they didn't used to have sensors that would make them stop if someting got in the way). He survived it because the door didn't get all the way down, but they never took him to a doctor for it.
Just a few examples of their whackiness (and danger).
I could go on forever today, but I gotta get my mind off this now.

Hmmm.....
Before I get into this, I have to put out there that if you are reading this wifey, then I'm only generalizing and not talking about us. Really. Seriously. I love you.
Anyway, let's see..
This is in no particular order, is just off the top of my head, is probabl;y a bad list, and I am only generalizing here. (ie. not all men react this way). Also, obviously not all women do these things.:
1) Don't assume a man is psychic. While many men are very good at reading the feelings of women, many more are not. We men can not just "know" what you are thinking. The classic exchange that follows goes to this point.
man: "Honey, are you mad at me?"
woman: "Yes."
man: "I'm sorry. What did I do?"
woman: "You know, and if you don't I'm not going to tell you." (In other words, read my mind)
2) Not realizing that many men are not as able or willing as you to share deep feelings. Especially feelings pertaining to some failure on our part. Our egos are enormously fragile on many subjects. And, it isn't that we don't have feelings, but we are generaly conditioned by society to supress the expression of those feelings. Who hasn't heard the expression that, "Real men don't cry." I'm not saying I agree with that sentiment, but that is the reality of society (in the US at least).
3) As a counter-point to the above, sometimes we really don't have any feelings on a particular subject. Few things are more aggravating than to have a woman keep asking over, and over, and over what/how we feel about a certain (insert whatever here....meal, paint color, movie, etc.), when we really, really, really, honestly don't give a flying f@#$ in a rolling donut about it. I guess you ladies have to be mind readers to sometimes. No, seriously though. If you want his opinion on something (again, insert whatever trivial thing here, paint color, where to eat, etc.) and he says "I don't care.", then leave it at that He probably means it.
4) Assuming he knows how to be romantic. We want you to be happy, and (most) men will gladly do things that you consider romantic, but we aren't really rasied to know what those things are. Also, it varies woman to woman. If you want flower petals strewn all over the bed because you think that's cool, ya gotta let us know that. Some of these things don't occur to us.
5) Some men need more personal or "hang out with the guys" time than others. This doesn't mean they love you any less. It just means that to keep their relationship "batteries" charged, they have to hang out with their buds and "relax" the standards of conduct a little. I don't mean the moral standards, I'm talking about relaxing the social standards. To put it bluntly, sometimes a guy just wants to hang out with people who won't look at him funny if he farts in there presence.
It took me forever to type this, so I'm not sure what others posts are gonna hit the board before I submit this. Probably posts with a great deal more insight, but these were the things that came to mind first.

Who Will Be The Next President Of The USA?
by minimus ini wouldn't be surprised if hillary makes it.
i hope not, though..

If Joseph Lieberman ever became President, that would shock a lot of people. You won't see a Jewish president, imo.
If we think there's terrorism now, then having Lieberman for prez. would mean we are just plain DOOMED. I suppose I probably don't know my backside from a hole in the ground on this one, but I'm guessing the muslims (read: the flag burning, de-capitating kind in the mid-east, not the warm, fuzzy, cute ones that don't want to kill the infedels ) would just blow a gasket over a Jewish US prez. Just my take on it.

We've had problems with both racoons and possums. Depending on the time of the year, we also get ground hogs messing with things (although I've mostly opened up a can of wup ass on ground hogs and exterminated them around here - they can tear up a buildings foundation).
I can't bring myself to shoot the coons though. Their so dang cute. Guess it sucks to be ugly in the animal kingdom.

Indiana.
Specifically, Lafayette. West Lafayette is famous for the excellent engineering school Purdue University. We also have a very advanced campus of Ivy Tech Community College. I have taken computer classes there for several years now and am finishing my degree. I'm very proud of our computer gear and networking labs and especially our Cisco networking program. Of course I'm biased since I work there as the network lab tech. for the computer program. Our particular campus tends to be a pilot campus where new programs and classes are tried out for the entire state. In one of our networking labs we have about $100K of Cisco networking gear in one wiring closet. Not bad for a little ol' community college! Nothing like walking into a little 6'x10' T Com room and seeing four full floor racks of Cisco gear! Enough about my school though...
The landscape arounf Lafayette (and for that matter most all of Northern Indiana) is a bit flat, with lots of corn, but Indiana has many wonderful state parks to visit that change up the scenery a bit. Lafayette is a great city. Very friendly. Crime is very low and taxes are fair. Although we are centered between Indianapolis and Chicago (approximately), both of those large cities are close enough to us to get the benefits (reasonable drive to either), while not getting the negatives of big city life. It is possible to live in Lafayette and commute to Indy or a number of other cities around about.
Lafayette is growing and has a great mix of agricultural, industrial, and because of Purdue, high-tech industries. Our biggest problems are a lack of vision on the part of city planners which has led to traffic congestion issues at some points, and urban sprawl. However, driving in Lafayette is a dream compared to Chicago or even Indy. The problems I mentioned are not due to corruption or mismanagement (for the most part), it was just an issue of a city that was - maybe 20 years ago - mostly focussed on agriculture, and has now exploded with industry. We are playing catch-up sort of with the infrastructure. Those things are improving.
For an idea of the infrastructure upgrades going on, we live 12 miles out of town and get broadband internet...from our co-op phone company...and still get a rebate check back from them many years. Kind of cool!
Weather here is variable, but tolerable to most people. Summers tend to get into the upper 90s and humid, and winters get down into the teens with occasional bitter wind chill due to deforestation (farm fields are not bordered by trees, so the wind cuts accross everything). Spring and fall are lovely, and everything is a riot of color at those times of the year.
Come visit our state some time and I'm sure you'll find us Hoosiers to be a friendly bunch of people who will welcome you with open arms!

Lady Liberty,
It is so liberating to be able to do what we want and not be worrying about pleasing someone else's sense of right and wrong. To finally be allowed to listen to our own inner voice and decide for ourselves what is right/wrong, how to treat others, how to view things, etc. I am so happy for you that you are breaking free and starting to live again! Wife and I DAd in September. We have never felt better. Anyway, Merry Christmas!
also, off topic, but...
he would need time to box it up since I was buying the floor model. ......The guy said.."How soon do you need it..is it for Christmas?" I said " Yes." He said,"Oh OK"
Very strange how the jw mind works - are they allowed to sell guns if they don't use them themselves ?Huh? Ofcourse dubs can sell firearms. The entire 14 years we were in I still had my firearms from before the dubs ever came into my life. Towards the middle of my being in, I even started to build up my collection of both long and short guns, began reloading my own ammunition, and to took up target shooting as a hobby. Many elders in the 3 congregations mutually sharing the KH in my town knew it. Many of the brothers have firearms and archery equipment. Some hunt, some varmint exterminate, some target shoot for a hobby. We have a large farming community here. We all talked about firearms openly. Very typical 16th birthday present is a .22 rifle around here for farm-boys. BB guns are given around 12th birthday many times. Firearms are just tools. Just like hammers, saws, or anything else. Any elder or other uppity witness who ever forgot that around me always got put in their place quiclky and easily with the scripture about Jesus asking the disciples if they had swords. Since Jesus was OK with weapons (and even prompted the disciples) for use against animals, then it is fine for us to have weapons as well. We just shouldn't shoot people. The last two sentences are WT interpretation, not my personal belief, and I'm not going there right now. Speaking of which, I need to make some time to get back out to the range and perforate some paper targets. Merry Christmas everybody! LDB

What XMas Present Would You Like This Year???
by minimus inone thing that jws do, whether they were "strong in the truth" or not is accept presents.
even if they don't "celebrate" thanksgiving, they'd still take the turkey from the employer.
if someone sent out a birthday gift or christmas present, a witness would still take but never givein return.

and my older son will be having his Cisco test paid for.
Hey Restangled, wish him luck from me. I aced my Cisco II practical exam today. I go for my CCNA at the end of the upcoming Spring semester.
As a side note, if he doesn't know this, Cisco Academy is currently selling a very cool router/access point/managed switch for only $300. I believe it is an 800 series (if memory serves -I'm too beat to look it up right now). He'll know were to look and find it if he is interested (cisco.netacad). The thing retails for about $800 I think. Nice hardware and should be good for practice if, as it seems from my brief look at it, it is indeed running both a web interface, and more importantly the standard Cisco IOS command interface. Ya just can't ever get enough router time. Don't know if you know what any of that means, but he will.
Have a great Christmas!
